While saying all lives matter rarely comes with bad intentions, it can be harmful to the BLM movement to insist on using this phrase. The BLM movement is not saying that not all lives matter just because the movement does not explicitly state that all lives do matter. Instead, the BLM movement is trying to draw more attention to the group that is in danger of police brutality.
Saying that all lives matter assumes that all lives are facing equal problems and should receive equal attention because of it - an assumption that just doesn’t hold up. We do not say “black lives matter” because they are the only lives that matter, we are saying black lives matter too.
Excellent points. Before we wrap this up and say goodnight to our audience, do either of you have anything to say to the people watching this program?
I urge the audience to recognize the truth and take action. As with other radical changes to racial issues in the United States, the justice system cannot be fixed purely through litigation.
