Unit 4 page 2 states that teenagers are," experimenting with new behaviors. These opportunities for growth can carry risk of unhealthy choices." Dr. Larson is here to explain tisk behavior and creating scenarios that could lead to unhealthy behaviors.
Having Family member that is known for being an alcoholic creates a risk behavior of being an alcoholic when you are older. So because my dad is an alcoholic I was especially at risk when I was a teenager of becoming an alcoholic. It was good that I had some really good friends to keep me out of trouble.
Unit 4 (part 2) page 3 states that, "The more parents talk openly with teens about avoiding unsafe health practices and instead choosing healthy behaviors, the more influential they can be with them."
Not only were my parents influencial on me not choosing to drink, government regulations also kept me out of trouble because I knew that drinking underage has bad consequences. So getting caught drinking underage could have also prevented me from going to medical school.
Unit 4 (part 2) page 2 talks about how to stay active with friends and here are all of their ideas. "There are many ways to be active, such as biking with friends, walking or running with the family dog, taking a recreational sports or fitness class or even playing an active video game."
A way that I have been able to influence my friends in staying active is by challenging them to a 30 day ab challenge where every day we had to do ab workouts. This challenge of doing workouts everyday made both of us feel better about ourseves and got us ready for summer.
