Unit 4 (part 2) page 4 states, “When you get involved in community activities, you get a lot of personal rewards and feelings of achievement.”
Every Sunday afternoon I go to Riverside Methodist Hospital to volunteer. I am stationed at the front lobby where I greet all of the family members of patients. After they family members get the room number of the patient I will take them to the elevator of the building that they need to go to. I love doing this I like getting to connect with the family members even if it is only for a couple of minutes. Because I do this for 3 hours every Sunday I get to impact many people’s day and I hope this improves overall community health.
Unit 4 (part 2) page 4 states, “By getting involved with community activities, you can come into contact with like-minded peers and positive adult role models other than your parents.”
I volunteer alongside of some women that I find very inspirational. One woman’s husband passed away just last June and so to see that she comes back to the hospital to volunteer every Sunday is really awesome. Both of these ladies I would call my role models. I know that because of volunteering and finding these role models I am improving my personal health.
Unit 4 (part 2) page 5 states, “You can learn to deal with challenges, communicate with different people and build up life skills and abilities in a supportive environment
There are different skills that needs to be implemented when talking to different age groups. For example when I am promoting eating good food for the activities that take place daily to my teammate it looks more like I will offer them a protein bar so that they are ready for that day in practice. When I am babysitting and I am trying to get the little girl to eat I will give her an incentive of dessert to finish her meal that I made for lunch.
