Direct and Indirect Sales Methods by comic101 on 02-02-2014
Personal Selling
Personal selling is where businesses use sales advisors to sell the product after meeting customers in person. The sellers encourage the customer to buy the products using their knowledge of the product.
An advantage of personal selling may include being able to influence the buyer to buy a product, the customer also doesn’t have to wait for a quote on a price. A disadvantage of personal selling might be that hiring sales assistants is expensive also; there may be a limited amount of assistance to the amount of customers.
Direct Mail
Direct mail is a way to sell products through posting catalogues or paper adverts through people’s doors.
An advantage of direct mail could include being able to reach a certain target audience, such as the elderly or people who dislike going out and shopping. A disadvantage of direct mail is that most people throw magazines and fliers in the bin and only pay attention to letters and post that is directed people living in a certain address.
TV Selling
TV selling is the sales of products on the television, such as programmes specific for selling products and adverts
An advantage of TV selling is that it is easy to phone up and order from the comfort of your home. Adverts through TV are also good as so many people watch TV. However, target audiences are very limited due to TV selling being expensive and only having it broadcasted on one channel. Shopping channels normally sell low quality products as well.
