| One way of examining moral philosophy is to divide theories into normative and meta-ethical. Normative theories are those which are supposed to guide, govern or prescribe human behaviour in order that such behaviour becomes "normal", or so that it can approximate the norm. On this view most ethical theories, from virtue ethics and deontological ethics to situationism and utilitarianism, are normative. Meta-ethics, on the other hand... Now discuss. | |
