| I agree with the both of you. Now, I want to ask a question that is different from the previous ones. Can either of you explain some positive aspects about the internet and Google? | |
|
| I would like to clarify that I do not think the internet is a completely evil and ominous thing. There are many benefits to the internet and that is why we use it every day. We are able to access information in a few clicks and we can filter searches to find exactly what we are looking for. As a writer, search engines like Google are a godsend. As I have previously stated, I do not have to be in libraries for hours on end looking for books and reading page after page for information. | |

| I agree with Mr. Carr here. You can search and access information quickly. Like many others, I use Google to research topics I am curious about. | |
|
| Alright, now back to the problems of the internet. How do each of you suggest fixing or finding a solution to the problems you each address in your essays? Carole? | |

| Taking a stand against companies such as Google or Facebook is one of the first things, I believe people should do. Acknowledge that there is a problem and call Google out on it. They should not be able to allow such discriminatory search suggestions and results that negatively impact people. The excuse of “[our search] results don’t reflect Google’s own opinions or beliefs” I received from Google is unacceptable (485). In fact, I believe it shows their ignorance and laziness to correct the problem. My hope is that my work can inform people about this and to call out companies who do this. | |

| Nicholas, how about you? | |
