Reaching a Compromise by khaecker1028 on 06-24-2018
Two co-workers who work in different departments, but to accomplish the same goal are meeting up for drinks at an office party.
Why don't you ever answer when I call you? I always have to relay messages through your assistant. It upsets me and I think it creates more possibility for mistakes.
I apologize for upsetting you, but I don't like the way you speak to me. I feel like you talk to me like I'm a subordinate and not on an equal level.
They decide to talk through the issues that they have with communication.
I am very sorry that I have made you feel that way. I think I get into a hurry on the phone sometimes.
I apologize for avoiding speaking with you. I guess I just feel like you don't treat me with an equal level of respect.
Together they work through their differences. They are even able to reach an agreement that allows the two coworkers to talk to one another and lessens the risk of errors that can be caused from using go-betweens.
I understand how that must make you feel. I will make it a point to slow down when I call and ask questions in an equal tone.
I appreciate that. I will be sure to take your calls or call you back myslef as soon as I can.
