The cabinet includes the secretaries of each of the 15 executive departments, the vice president, and other key officials. In addition to advising the president, the cabinet secretaries also run the executive departments for which they have responsibility. Senate must confirm each person the president nominates to be cabinet secretary. | |

| 3. The presidents cabinet includes each of the heads of the 15 executive branch departments. One is the Department of State which is responsible for developing and implementing the foreign policy of the United States. The DOD protects the security of our country. It consists of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marines, and U.S. Air Force as well as the Joint Chiefs of Staff and 17 defense agencies. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is concerned with protecting public health and providing social services to those least able to support themselves. | |

NASA conducts missions relating to space exploration, technologies, and potential economic opportunities in the field of space, such as commercial space flight. The General Services Administration (GSA) is responsible for constructing and maintaining all government buildings and supplying equipment for federal offices.The CIA gathers and evaluate information about what is going on in other countries. | |

| 6. There are also government corporations and regulator commissions . Government corporations are more likely to take risks and to find innovative solutions to the challenges they confront. Regulatory commissionsare independent agencies that have the governments authority to issue licenses and punish people and groups that violate the laws under their authority. | |
