The 50's by SPKW2E on 02-03-2015
It's been a few months into Danika's job at KPS productions, an international sucessful record label and Danika is having a mutual conversation with her boss.
You know I'm really blessed to be working here boss.50 years ago I couldn't even image what my ancestors felt dealing with segregation and racism.
I remember when I was a young boy back in the 50's. My papa had just returned from veteran service in WW2 and my parents were trying to figure out how to move forward.
Danika's curiosity leads the conversation into an inspiring history lesson.
How old were you then?
I was bout 15 years old. The GI bill had just come into terms which was a lucky save because we were able to find a bigger home in a suburban area for an affordable price. I am the second oldest of twelve children and that move benefited us. The 50's was such a restless era. And a progessive era as well. We spent so much just to keep upwth the pace of our neighbors for goodness sake. The 50's was full of consumerism.
Danika and her boss realize the importance of the 50's and it's effect on the 21st century.
Glad I'm working here with you boss.
Parents were calling us the rebellious teens. Believe it or not, we actually defined rebelious teen behavior. My father had purchased me Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong records which I had spent the majority of my teenage years bonding with. Despite the heat I had recieved from neighbors and friends, there's was no doubt in my mind that I could identify good music. They called it the devils music due to racism and segregation at the time but you can't hide talent. The progression was for the good of America. And I'm glad I hired you. We can continue to make this record label a sucess and hopefully find our generation equivalents of Louis Armstrongs and Ella Fitzgeralds.
