| Hey Melinda, how do you get your ELL students to elaborate on their responses and express their thoughts fully? | |
| Well Bob, I have my students talk with each other to either shoulder partners or within thier groups. It makes them comfortable in speaking their minds, but they can go off topic. | |

| Ah, I see. Well what else do you do? Ah, I see that the ELL students will be comfortable when they are around someone with similar experiences. I also see that they might go off topic. | |
| I also use brainstorming strategies with my students so that they are able to organize their thoughts. I can have my ELL students partner up with other students who used to have trouble understanding the language as well. | |

| I see that the problem with giving students choice to their assignments is that it will take a lot of work on our part. It still sounds very fun for the students, thank you so much Melinda! | |
| The third technique I use is giving students the opportunity to choose from a number of projects and assignments to do that pertain to the different learning styles. The students are able to be comfortable with the ways in which they show their knowledge. | |
