DId you know that mercantilism was a very important thing in the mid 1600's?
Yes, there were many different acts passed in that time with rules for everyone about the trading that took place. Every colony had their own thing that they had more of, so that was like their 'duty' to export that one thing more than something that they didn't have much of.
The trade had to be well balanced, with more stuff being exported than imported at a time.
That made it so England still had more money to go around than the other colonies that they traded with.
The trade was mostly just between certain places.
IT was known as the "triangle or trade' because it went from Britain, to the West Indies, to the 13 Colonies, which plotted on a map started to look like a triangle formation.
