Yes, he is. He even tried to get the family on the St. Louis voyage in '39, but at the last minute it fell through. We were relieved to hear he wasn't aboard when they were turned away, but now I'm not so sure.
I can imagine. They must feel as if the United States have done nothing for them.
Honestly, all these neutrality acts have me feeling almost useless. First we can't send out any weaponry, and then we can't trade with anybody!
Don't forget about cash and carry - we can still trade non-military goods.
Bah! All we've done is allow to lend and lease war supplies - nothing that directly helps tne people.
But we are at least lending to all countries that are vital to the defense of the country - not Germany, and not the Nazis.
