Hurricane Safety and Procedure For Evacuation by JamGro on 01-23-2013
For The crazies who want to stay.
I had the pleasure to interview a survivor of the storm from last year who thought that staying was a good idea. This is what she had to say.
It was the worse experience of my life. You know you think that you can stick it out and it won't be that bad, but I was so wrong. During the storm the winds and rain were so strong that my house was flooded at the bottom level. I had to stay at the top level of my home. I didn't have much of a plan so I was pretty much stranded for about two days until the waters subsided. Please anyone listening never stay, if they say leave please leave.
Law Enforcements Opinion
I also interviewed the Police Chief of Savannah. He also wanted to warn anybody to please evacuate.
My name is Officer Keith. During last years hurricane I of course had to stay and observe things as best as I can. It was very hectic, we had many calls from citizens who were literally stranded in their houses. We had one lady who actually was stuck on her roof until we got a helicopter to rescue her after the storm was over. Once again please leave if asked, becasue sometimes we may not be able to get there in time enough to save a life. We don't want any senseless deaths from this storm.
Quick Review
Ok Folks remember that if they issue a hurricane watch that you should be preparing for the possibility of having to evacuate. You should have a plan put together if you don't already please take the time out to do so. If an evacuation alert is issued remember the tips that we provided for you on an evacuation plan.
