The wife of a factory own by Carnegie himself tries to plea to Carneige to raise her husband's wage to be able to make ends meet.
Mr.Carnegie sir, I was wondering if you could please raise my husband's wages who works at one of your factories. We are really in need of money to pay our taxes and bills.
If it is more money that he wants then he will have to work more hours . I don't give raises. The wage they have is the wage they will keep.
The woman explains him how desperate their sitatution is while Carneige shows little sympathy for her.
But please! He works long hours and gets only paid for portion of it! We have meet our ends or we could lose our home!
Well that is not my problem now is it? I am sucessful and rich. And if he is complainig about his job so much we can just fire him and get someone who will apprieciate it!
The woman pleas to keep her husband's job and realizes how cruel and unjust Carneige is.
You don't care about yor employees or their families. All you care about is that they make you money!
Of course! Money is what makes me who I am! Rich and powerful. Why should I carea about them or even more their families? They don't make me money
