Federalists vs. Anti-Federalist (Federalist Papers) - The Federalist supported a strong national government that ensured that the nations debt would be paid and that American money would keep its value. The also stated that they would protect themselves from all foreign countries and maintain order, regulate trade and guarantee the rights of citizens. Anti-Federalists opposed a strong central government would endanger peoples rights. They also thought that the government would be meeting too far away from local communities and that the "necessary and proper" clause left the door open to abuse of power. The Federalists Papers stated that James Madison, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton wrote essays about the need for a new government. |

Ratification- After persuading Washington, Franklin and the Bill of Rights, The new government was signed in June 1788. However this would not last long and the 13 colonies would become the United States of America. |
