 | So The year that I lived in chicago and greta lived in nyc we saw each other a ton because gas was mad cheap, it was the heyday of the big discount airlines. i could get a roundtrip ticket from midway to laguardia for $89 on ATA no bullsh#t. It was amazing. we'd split the cost so you're looking at $44.50! ridiculous and wonderful. I flew to NYC or greta to chicago about 15 times that year. | |

| I always flew ATA, it was always the same crew, same routine, got to be kinda like family. I racked up a sh#t-TON of miles! like, unbelievable! by the time i finally left chicago, I had earned miles for 4 round trip tickets to hawaii. Being a WWII hoarder for some reason, i held on to them until finally I was ready to cash em in, went to the website ready to make it rain boarding passes. then, BOOM, the screen comes up with a very simple header and a brief note in times new roman 12 point font. | |

| It's a very formal but almost sad letter from the CEO about how ATA has (3 days earlier!!!) gone bankrupt. The company is dead. any purchased tickets will be refunded and any earned miles will float off into space and can never be redeemed. ever. having spent so much intimate time with ATA over the past year, it was really heartbreaking for me in addition to the rage at having missed out on my ridiculous trips to hawaii. it was sad...but i just sat there looking at the screen screaming. | |
