Matt, you shouldn’t make racist jokes about Melody, the new intern, just because she’s black.
What are you talking about? Those jokes are funny, and no one gets hurt, right? Besides, racism ended when Abe Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863!
Actually, that’s not true at all. Even though all races were technically considered equal in America as of 1863, racism continues to this day. For example, my cousin found racial slurs painted on his garage last October because his family is Hispanic!
But that isn’t really racism, is it? They’re not being taken as slaves or anything, are they?
Matt, racism is considered any prejudice or animosity against people who belong to other races. Even a funny comment or joke that is against a person’s ethnicity is considered racist.
Oh. Maybe I should quit saying that stuff about Melody…
