Cell Cycle:In simple terms (even for smarty pants) by nananeko on 02-12-2009
What happens is that the nucleus and the nuclear envelope or membrane have disappeared. A thing called chromatin coils into a thing called chromosomes. Chromatin holds the DNA or genetics.
Chromosomes are two chromatins tied together by a centromere. Centrioles, or tube like things, form at different ends of the cell and grow a thing called spindle fibers. Is that confusing?
No, I got it.
Ok! The next phase is the Metaphase. The metaphase is a little different because it is shorter. The chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell - now that the nucleus is gone.
