You should be able to slip the width of three figners between the restraint and the patient's body. The device should never restrict breathing.
I will apply a wrist restraint to prevent you from pulling on you IV and other tubes
Release the restraint at least every 2 hours for at least 10 minutes. Take patients to the bathroom regularly. Provide fluid or nourishment. Also attend to any other needs.
When restraints are used in bed: There must be full side rails on the bed, and they must be raised. The patient should always be positioned in the middle of the mattress. Always secure the restraint to the movable part of the bed frame.
Do not use restraints in moving vechicles or on toilets unless you are sure the device is intended for that use by the manufacturer.
