Open Science and Open Data by sjohn217 on 02-20-2023
Jane and John are preparing to present an explanation of open science and open data ahead of a research study they're conducting.
Ok, I'll start...Open Data is defined as a strategy for incorporating research data into the permanent scientific record by releasing it under an Open Access license.
So, we are proposing is that the data we collect in this study be released using an Open Access license to allow it to be used by other researchers and curious people.
This would mean that the findings of this research will be published on an Open Access forum. Practicing Open Science would make it easier for other researchers to replicate and confirm our findings, or even expand our initial scope.
Along with Open Data, there is also Open Science. Open science encompasses unhindered access to scientific articles, access to data from public research, and collaborative research enabled by ICT tools and incentives.
Someone asks what makes it necessary to have both Open Science and Open Data.
Open Science and Open Data go hand in hand. Open Data enhances Open Science by making the exact data we used available for analysis.
Therefore, our findings that we publish in the spirit of Open Science can be readily accessed and replicated using our method and data.
