The letter-writer finally acknowledges that he was the one who persuaded the "half-blood creature" to enter the Shoreditch room by promising him a virginal girl who had been kidnapped from a Cornwall convent and who the prince could easily drive insane—a method for which the prince had a reputation. Prince was well-known, as were the other Old Ones. They found the doctor—who also wrote the play—waiting for them. The letter ends by stating that the detective came close to being a worthy opponent, and that the Tall Man will withhold his identity until after the world has been brought back to normal. It is signed "Rache". |
