Gender Conversations by ACRehberg on 04-22-2021
I am not an expert on this, what can I possibly say that is helpful.....just take a deep breath Aprill....you don't need to be an expert....listen, be empathetic, do what you know and you'll know what to do.
Ms. Rehberg, I'm so concerned about Benny. All he wants to do is play dress up and paint his nails, and lately he's started referring to himself as a girl.
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I am here to support you and Benny in any way I can, I know it feels challenging but I can give you some excellent resources to help you through this time and connect you with the school counselor.
I'm concerned about how other kids are going to treat him in class. I DON'T want him to feel different or be bullied for his preferences.
I totally get it. I was already planning on having a class discussion about differences that we encounter with one another. What a perfect opportunity to start having these conversations while the kids are young.
Thank you, I think that's a really good idea. But what can I do, I don't even know where to begin.
