Marshes 2 (Renewed 2) by 1129285 on 10-26-2020
You are right as its conversational meaning. In biology, however, the major difference between marshes and swamps is whether they have trees. Actually, swamps have trees, but marshes usually don't and are dominated by grasses and other herbaceous plants.
I didn't know that.
Next question. In wetlands including marshes, water covers the ground for a long period. So what does that water bring to the herbaceous plants?
That is an interesting question... You mean nutrients or something like that?
Correct! Rivers carry rich soils to them. So marshes have rich biodiversity. Furthermore, the plants slow down rivers and sometimes help the spread of marshes!
Wow, so plants themselves also contribute to the expansion of marshes!
