Declaring Independence by cschriemer on 09-03-2020
We are so blessed to have migrated safely from Europe to North America. I am thankful that we agree that laws should be applied equally to all people, even kings, with fair trial.
Yes! Can you believe we formed 13 colonies under the charters from the King of England?! We will continue to grow with our founding principles of limited government and representative government. We respect the government, but their power is not absolute.
Did you hear about the English Bill of Rights? The monarch no longer has absolute authority. They can only rule with consent of the people's representatives in Parliament. Not only that, but the people have a right to petition the government!
I wonder if this applies to us in America too? We have worked hard for what we have. I firmly believe in representative government. I want to elect my own delegates and make our own laws.
We have natural rights as human beings. We have the right to life, liberty, and property. I am worried about Britain. They may be failing to protect our rights. If that is true, we have every right to rebel.
King George III has increased the British revenue. We must protest. They have already closed our Boston Harbor in retaliation to recent events. We need to develop our own resources and economy. We are united by our frustration with the British authority trying to control and over tax us. I have heard our representatives discussing declaring our independence from Britain. Governments need to be instituted among men. It is the right of our people to abolish our ties with the British. It is time to Declare our independence!
