Dangers of Gymnastics by turcke4423 on 06-11-2018
At the local hospital.....
It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Smith. I am your daughter's doctor, and have (assessed) her current condition to evaluate and gauge the situation.
I'm so happy to meet you; how is Jane doing? My wife and I were (apprehensive) of letting her compete so often in gymnastics since it tends to be quite dangerous and we just had an anticipation of her somehow getting harmed.
Well, you and your wife were right to bring her here after she fell at her meet. Her injuries are not too severe, although unfortunately her left leg is broken. I am (averse) to performing surgery on her broken leg since my colleagues are all strongly opposed to the idea because the break looked clean on the x-ray and should be able to heal on its own.
Phew! That's a relief. I have (ascertained) my knowlege of different procedures to perform on broken legs and further confirmed all of my knowledge on that subject since we got here but I was hopeful that my research would be for nothing if surgery wouldn't be necessary.
In a nearby hallway, Mr. Jones meets his wife and talks to her about Jane's prognosis
Great news, Honey! Although Jane's leg is broken as we feared, she doesn't need surgery and can be discharged today so she can start the recovery process. The doctor I spoke to did mention something called muscular (atrophy), which means that Jane's left leg will become smaller and weaker since she won't be able to use it for awhile, but other than that she should make a full and healthy recovery!
That's great news! The idea that she might need surgery was very worrisome and a scenario that I was naturally opposed to. Let's go fill in Jane and get ready to take her home.
