I was returning home from the grocery store with my belongings. When I got home, I had noticed that someone had broken into my house through the back window, worried that someone was in there, I was cautious and entered the house, but when i was in there, I noticed that nothing was stolen.
The policemen (astute) that the Ms. Dawn was lying, but they needed to (ascertain) the situation just to be sure she was telling the truth and asked to enter the premises. Inside the men had searched thoroughly and noticed that nothing was stolen as she claimed. However, the police had arrested Ms. Dawn on the spot
Mam, you are under arrest
I'm sorry sir, but what for?
If there was a thief in the house, why would he not take anything? that being said, Ms. Dawn clearly stated that someone had broken in through the back window, but how would she have know if she was in front of her house and had not entered it yet. When confronted with this, Ms. Dawn had (averse) to the acusation, but knew that there was no point in denying it.
