Galileo's Trial (1/3) by amandav2024 on 02-07-2018
Galileo Galilei, Italian astronomer, published his controversial book "Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems". The dialogue challenged geocentric theory with heliocentric Copernican thought-- that the Sun was centered at the universe, rather than the Earth.
Chief Inquisitor Father Reverend Fra, assisted by Reverend Father Carlo Sinceri (Prosecutor of the Holy Office) are appointed to handling Galileo's first Deposition.
I can’t let Galileo get away with this sneaky expression of his heretical beliefs.
In 1616, the Church forbade Galileo from teaching or advocating for heliocentric schools of thought. He is again condemned for heresy upon publication of his Dialogue, thus prompting the Church to summon him to Rome for trial in 1633.
