John Proctor and Mary Warren enter the court room, Mary Warren proceeds to tell Danforth that her and the other girls are falsely accusing people of witchcraft. |
| Mary Warren: It was all fake sir, there was no spirits being sent against me. And the other girls, they are all lying too. | |
| Danforth: You are either lying now, or you were lying in court. Abigail Williams, rise, is there any truth in this? | |

Abigail tells Danforth that Mary Warren is lying, then she starts to claim that Mary is sending a spirit upon her. She does this to get Mary accused of witchcraft. |

Mary, concerned that she will get accused of witchcraft, starts to lie again. She goes on to say that Proctor is the one who is making her testify against the girls. |
| Mary Warren: Abby stop it! John Proctor is the devil's man! he told me, if my wife hangs I will murder you! Abby! Abby! I'll never hurt you more! | |
| John Proctor: Mary, how could you?! You are all pulling heaven down and raising up a whore! | |
