SCIENTIFIC MODALITIES OF IDENTIFICATION |
| Doc what scientific modalities were used to identify the decedent? | |
| Well there wasn't dna such as teeth or fingerprints to identify our victim but with the skull we used DNA identification and forensic anthropology | |

| I know you maybe wondering exactly what do i mean by this. Forensic anthropology is identification and examination of skeletal remains. | |
| Hmmm, so you were able to tell the sex, age and race from this. Very interesting!!! | |

| So Doc, how did the skull help you identify exactly who the victim was. | |
| Well, using the skull we extracted DNA with a surgical drill and submitted a mitochondrial dna test. This was useful because we could compare the results with the victims mother, as mitochondrial dna comes primarily from the mother parent. | |
