You say oddity, I say commodity? by LeeXan on 08-13-2016
"...Comics, for the most part, are weird and nonsensical and have no part in a commodified culture." ~Julia Wertz ("Talking Comics with Julia Wertz," Latimes.com)
I think we make sense.
But we don't really make money.
(Thanks, quotesoncomicics.com!)
I think we make the best kind of sense.
We may make a weird kind of joy.
(I have to look up Julia Wertz. I'm not sure what she does. Oh, just looked her up--The New Yorker and other things--history, buildings, mothers, oh my. See juliawertz.com)
But I don't think we're bound by sense. I think we make more sense because we are trying to make something true.
I think we're more true because we're not bound by a rigid sense of truth. But would it be so bad to make a buck of two? I mean, we are wearing these shirts and ties. If that doesn't mean business, I don't know what does.
